Any regular readers of the weekly SGM blog will have become familiar with these posts being quite witty and charismatic, however this week is about disappointment and heartbreakā€¦ Welcome to life as an Arsenal fan.

As a lover of all sports, but mainly football and especially Arsenal, football has caused me heartbreak. From Arsenal losing to Barcelona in the Champions League final, to being embarrassed at the hands of Chelsea in the Europa League final. However, football has also brought me some of the best days of my life. For me personally, nothing can be compared to watching your favourite sports team win while surrounded by your friends, sharing a moment of euphoria. One of my personal favourites was coming back from 2-0 down in the 2014 FA Cup Final to end a nine-year trophy drought.

Through my love of football, I have been introduced to some friends for life with moments I will treasure forever. Football is such an international language that allows people of all ages, races, cultures, and backgrounds to communicate through and find common interests. To some, itā€™s just 22 men/women running around kicking a ball, but to others, we are the ā€œ12th manā€. We are a part of the team, and nothing can ever beat the feeling of chanting on your side with a sense of belonging.
