If you’re chasing sunshine, swaying palms, and crystal-clear turquoise waters, Punta Cana delivers a slice of Caribbean heaven that’s hard to top. I visited in June, and from the moment I landed, I was greeted with warm air, vibrant energy, and the feeling that something special was about to unfold.
For me the biggest highlight was a day trip to Saona Island. The journey there alone speeding across aquamarine waters in a boat with the wind whipping through my hair was unforgettable. Once we arrived, it felt like stepping into a dream with powdery white sand, swaying palm trees, and water so clear it almost didn’t look real. I spent the day sunbathing, sipping cocktails, and even spotting starfish in the shallows. It was paradise in every sense.
Part way through the trip for a taste of adrenaline, we signed up for an off-road buggy excursion and wow, was it a blast! Speeding through muddy trails, splashing through puddles, and navigating rugged terrain felt like something out of an action movie. We drove past rural villages, waved at locals, and got gloriously covered in dirt. It was the perfect contrast to the tranquil beach days and definitely added some wild fun to the trip.
Between adventures, we indulged in local flavours seafood so fresh it melted in your mouth, tropical fruits bursting with sweetness, and a cheeky shot of mamajuana that packed a punch. Dominican cuisine is vibrant, soulful, and absolutely delicious.
Punta Cana offered the perfect balance of relaxation and adventure. Whether it was cruising to Saona Island, bouncing through the jungle in a buggy, or simply soaking up the sunshine, each day brought something new. The trip left me refreshed, exhilarated, and honestly craving a second round.
I travelled to New York for the first time, and it felt like stepping into a movie scene that I had only ever seen in the movies. From the moment I arrived, the city had an energy unlike anywhere else I had visited. The streets were full of life, bright lights, music, and people from […]
A few weeks ago I found myself in crew for The Head of the River Race’s one hundredth anniversary. This is the biggest head race (long distance rowing race) in the country, hosting crews not just from the country but the world, in all 375 crews were entered, totalling 3,000 rowers. Whilst I hadn’t really […]
Three weeks ago, over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend, three friends and I made our way to Barcelona. A city I’d never visited before and hadn’t heard a bad word about, so I was keen to see what the fuss was about and discover the Catalonian culture. In typical tourist-style we first visited the works […]
