By the look it, Taylor Swift’s Eras tour manages something rather unique. Aside from generating the singer and her entourage countless Dollars in revenue, it also seems to manage to almost entirely take over entire cities when it arrives. Now, I’m no ‘Swiftie’, to be honest the thought of even googling whether you spell that with a ‘y’ or an ‘ie’ was too much I apologise to Ms. Swift’s entourage if I got that wrong. Pop-grammatics aside, if you thought that phenomenon was unique, then you must not have experienced Amsterdam’s Money2020 event. For those of you that haven’t heard of it, Money2020 held each year in Amsterdam is a major financial conference focussed on the fintech and payments space.
As the event has grown over the years, it has attracted a stronger following. Accordingly, SGM-FX London and SGM-FX Malta were both represented in good number in Amsterdam this year. The purpose of Money2020 is to create an event where leading and growing financial institutions attend with the intention of building networks as well as ideas for the improvement of the industry. The event is a melting pot of ideas with a focus on all things fintech.
Now, given that I’ve fallen four squash leagues since I last wrote to you, I could hardly boast of my sporting prowess. In addition, whilst taking a jog prior to the start of the conference each morning, I was overtaken by what felt like half of Amsterdam on the river Amstel. So, all that is left to say is that it was my pleasure attending the event with my colleagues in the pursuit of providing our clients with the best products and solutions in the FX and payments space.
After having experienced our first skiing experience in Chamonix last year, in Summer we decided to plan a family holiday in a skiing resort in the small town of Formigal, situated on the Spanish side of these amazing mountains. With mesmerising breathtaking views at both the lower and upper levels, the various scenic views never […]
A while back, my dad, brother, and I spent a weekend in Germany’s ninth-largest city of Dortmund. Historically known for its steel production and breweries, Dortmund has successfully transitioned from its industrial roots into a modern hub of technology and culture, all while maintaining an enormous passion for football. Most of the time, it is […]
At this point of my blogs, it is clear that I enjoy my sport and so it should not come as a surprise of my enjoyment of most recent read, States of Play: How Sportwashing Took Over Football by journalist Miguel Delaney. Exploring how European football clubs have been bought by some of the world’s […]
