At this point of my blogs, it is clear that I enjoy my sport and so it should not come as a surprise of my enjoyment of most recent read, States of Play: How Sportwashing Took Over Football by journalist Miguel Delaney.

Starting on matters such as Silvio Berlusconi’s purchase of AC Milan and the control of commercial television rights to modern day matters such as Neymar’s £198 million transfer to Paris Saint-Germain and Abu Dhabi’s construction empire in Manchester, to current failed Financial Fair Play constraints and the dawn of the European Super League.
Whilst not for everybody, for those who are invested in this sport and interested in the analytic review of the financial and political forces currently shaping modern day football and providing that necessary insight into what more is to come.
