After much recommendation from everyone a few months ago I visited Lake Garda in Italy. I stayed in a little town called Sirmione situated on the southern shores of Lake Garda at the end of a thin peninsula. Being the north most point where olive oil trees are grown in Europe for the production of olive oil. The region had light, low acidity fruity flavour olive oil. The town was perfect for a few relaxing days consisting of morning swims, strolling around in the little streets shopping, boat rides, hiking the trails and eating lots of fresh fish.
Life feels sweeter with gelato in hand whilst soaking in the summer sun. Strangely, it was hard to find a gelato stand with no flavour additives around the town. The main choice available was mountains of neon coloured gelato given to you in the largest cone I have seen. The main street was always full of tourists in the day but blissful in the evenings with locals. Noteworthy spots were the thermal spa, Scaligero Castle built on water, Jamaica beach called that due to the bright blue of the water and the gardens.
All in all, a picturesque town with surrounding mountains in the background with vast fresh blue water and swans in the foreground. I truly understood why everyone had such high reviews of Lake Garda.

Most of the time, it is […]

It definitely looks tempting, especially with us currently experiencing lows of –4°C in London. My mind immediately wandered to the sunny Maldives, which I visited a […]
