Benalmádena is a picturesque town on the Costa del Sol in southern Spain renowned for its impressive Mediterranean coastline and vibrant atmosphere. With a flight time of under 3 hours to Malaga and then onward transfer time of approximately 20 minutes, it was the perfect destination to travel with my 18 month old daughter who was flying for the first time.
From its beautiful beaches, cable car rides to the top of Mount Calamorro, wildlife parks and award-winning Puerto Marina, Benalmádena has lots of activities to keep the family entertained. With the price of a beer ranging from a bargain EUR 1.80 to EUR 3.50 and sunshine in plentiful supply, it is easy to see why this is such a popular tourist destination, particularly amongst Brits who return year after year. The town of Fuengirola is also just a short train ride away, offering more beaches, bars and restaurants as well as the Miramar shopping centre.
