Menorca, a bit of history, plenty of sun, an all round relaxing time.

Earlier this year we made our first family trip abroad since the birth of our son to Menorca. Having manoeuvred our way through a 2-year old’s first flight which didn’t prove to be as traumatic as it could have been, we welcomed the break of our week away.
Positioned in the northern coast of Menorca, in Platges de Fornells we were treated to a peaceful environment, with warm weather and stunning views.
Within a 10 minute walk of our stay was the peaceful beach of Cala Tirant with a wide, scenic, sandy beach and clear water that certainly puts my nearest home offering of Frinton to shame. Perfect for a family day or mornings out creating treasured family moments.
A short walk along the coast brought us a day in Fornells, a relaxed fishing village with traditional architecture, whitewashed streets and a harbour that appeals to those who enjoy sailing and water sports with sailing tours, catamaran trips and paddle excursions always available.
Torre defensiva costera de l’Illa de les Sargantanes dominates the entrance and central area of anchorage is a historic coastal defence tower built by the British in 1801 is on view to those who visit the coast of Fornells. For those seeking further insight the Fornelles Tower (Torre de Fornells) is a restored 19th century coastal defence tower built during the last period of British rule and is now an active museum.
Our time in Menorca was a relaxed, enjoyable stay that we look back fondly on and will in the future return to.
