In June a couple mates and I decided to take on Snowden, the highest peak in Wales and one of the infamous 3 peaks of the UK, for a weekend escape that balanced challenge with enjoying nature in its highest form (at least within driving distance).
We based ourselves in a small Welsh Town called Pentir, in an Airbnb above what used to be a pub, which included full access to the facilities, including the darts board and table tennis table, that I am sure was once enjoyed by locals. But from the state of it, was probably quite a long time ago.
Early the next morning, we set off armed with waterproofs and enthusiasm that quickly met the reality of steep inclines and unpredictable weather. The route we took up the mountain (Pyg track) was absolutely incredible as you can see from the photo above. The weather, on the other hand, was so erratic that it made for some interesting times ascending, especially stepping on wet rocks with seemingly storm like winds swishing you side to side.
The views at the summit were beautiful and once we had finished queuing to touch and take pictures with the summit cairn, we had officially hiked up the biggest mountain (in Wales). With the sheer amount of people at the top diminishing this fact.
Now that Snowden has been conquered. We will continue to finish the 3 peaks of the United Kingdom with Scarfell and Ben Nevis to follow next year.
Lebanon is often described by the world through the lens of its crises, yet for those of us who call it home, it is a land where resilience isn’t just a word, but the very rhythm of how we live and love. The true essence of Lebanon lies in an incomparable charm that persists against all […]
A month ago, I had the pleasure of wandering halfway across the world to meet friends travelling Indonesia. It was the furthest I have ever travelled and the first time flying on my own, but by far the most wonderful holiday I have ever been on. We visited many cities in Bali, spending time in […]
Meeting spring in Milan felt like the perfect escape. Even though the weather didn’t exactly welcome us – with grey skies and chilly rain – it somehow added to the atmosphere, making the city feel even more cinematic and alive. The trip was all about simple pleasures. Catching up with friends in such a beautiful […]
